Las hablas del quechua central se configuran en toda una galaxia dialectal haciendo difícil y compleja la tarea de delimitar entre una y otra frontera, la distribución de sus isoglosas, percibidas como discontinuas y heterogéneas.
El propósito central de la investigación realizada por los investigadores Emérita Escobar Zapata, Jairo Valqui y los miembros del Grupo de Investigación sanmarquino Dolenper, fue el estudio dialectológico del quechua que sobrevive en el poblado de Picoy (distrito de Santa Leonor, provincia de Huaura, departamento de Lima), donde son escasos los hombres y mujeres que se mantienen activos.
Interesa documentar el léxico, los aspectos fonético-fonológicos, morfológicos y relatos orales, antes de su desaparición. Para explicar e interpretar los datos se aplica el enfoque de la lingüística cognitiva.

The varieties of Central Quechua are configured in a dialectal galaxy that making difficult and complex to delimit the distribution of its isoglosses from one border to the other, as these become heterogeneous and discontinuous.
The main purpose of this research is to present a dialectological study of Quechua that survives in the town of Picoy (Santa Leonor district, Huara province, department of Lima), where there are few men and women who remain active this language. It is interesting to document, the lexicon, the phonetic-phonological, morphological aspects and the oral texts, before its disappearance. In order to explain and interpret its particularities, the cognitive linguistic approach will be applied.
